Introduction to Yoga: 3 Week Series by Jim Lipson
Saturday, March 4, 11, 18  (come to one class, two classes or the entire series) 1-2:15p

This 3-week series is designed specifically for those who are brand new to the practice of yoga as well as those who wish to get “back to basics” in an open and exploratory environment. The history and philosophy of yoga will be woven through the series. Students will be invited to ask questions and to explore the benefits of each pose.

Week 1:  Stand & Sit Tall: Defining proper alignment from the ground up.  Breath and Meditation

Week 2:  Shoulder & Hip openers: Stretch and strengthen the muscles of the upper body & release lower back tension by opening the hips and pelvic region.

Week 3:   Unwind the Spine: Mobilize the back through twists and back bends.

About the Instructor
Jim Lipson has been practicing hatha yoga in any number of permutations since 1978 and has been teaching in Tucson since the late 1990s. With a teaching practice that is firmly grounded in the breath, Jim specializes in gentle adjustments that enable students to get the most out of a pose while also allowing for and respecting their strengths and limitations. His 200 hour certification is w/ Integrated Yoga Therapy which embraces different yoga styles and philosophies.
