Basics and Beyond

A class that incorporates Hatha yoga’s basic alignment principles through individualized attention and instruction. When appropriate, expect gentle adjustments, assists, modifications of poses, and the use of props to compliment students’ experience, strengths, body types and limitations.  Experienced students will expand their practice while fit beginners will gain confidence in experiencing a deeper understanding of the basics of each pose.  This class will also teach and utilize various breathing techniques.

Back Care
Students are introduced to movements and poses that encourage improved postural alignment and freedom from pain. This class is for those wishing to prevent and alleviate back and neck problems.  A gentle practice suitable for new students and students of all levels regardless of back issues.

Beginning Yoga
A slower moving class focusing on Hatha yoga’s  basic principles of alignment through individualized attention and instruction.  Beginning students or those returning to yoga after an injury or other challenge will find this class to be very supportive in regards to their individual needs.  Expect gentle adjustments, assists, modifications of poses, and the use of props based on experience, strengths, body types and limitations, along with the introduction of various breathing techniques.

Beginning Vinyasa Flow
This class is designed for beginners through intermediate students. In Beginner Flow, you’ll be guided through postures in a Vinyasa style, beginning with the basic poses, but allowing for more challenging poses based on your practice level. This is a great class for students looking for a more gentle experience, those who are new to yoga or those who need a change of pace, yet still have the option to take it to the next level.

Gentle Alignment All Levels –
Instructor will go over the basics and builds on anatomical principles of alignment to assist yogis in exploring the whole range of poses to build confidence for any practice they do regularly. Clear and concise ways to use props will be a fundamental part of this practice, along with teaching appropriate modifications and taking questions so that each practitioners have a chance to ask their most pressing questions for the benefit of all students. This practice will also dive into some other aspects of yoga including mediation, philosophy and pranayama.

Gentle Yoga
An easy-paced class with an emphasis on gentle movement, sweet stretches, breathing and relaxation. This class is best  for students who seek a quiet, relaxing yoga practice with an emphasis on mindfulness. Also excellent for those who are inflexible or recovering from illness or injury.

Gentle and Restorative
This class is appropriate for all students seeking the benefits of a very relaxing, gentle and restorative practice. Deep restorative work improves range of motion and joint mobility, reduces pain and the effects of stress. Cancer survivors, and students with injuries, arthritis or other chronic conditions welcome. No prior yoga experience required.

Hatha Level 1
Balance and peacefulness result from attention to breath as we move through physical “asana” yoga practice. The basic postures introduced in Beginning Yoga will serve as our foundation for each class sequence. Modifications are suggested as needed.

Hatha Level 2  Hold poses longer, while exploring them in greater depth and detail. You will learn poses that require more strength and be introduced to arm balances, inversions, and full back bends. You will also work with the bandhas and more advanced breath practices.  At this level, we assume you can read your own body and practice within your own limits while approaching the more complicated poses in a safe way.

Hatha All Levels
This class combines breathwork (pranayama) with a variety of physical postures (asanas) and deep relaxation (savasana).  Asanas are held for a number of breaths to allow you to open and release into each pose. Postures in class will be adapted according to your experience and body’s capacity. All levels are welcome and variations will be offered so all students can enjoy the benefits of yoga

Meditation  – Restore, renew, reconnect with simple meditation and breathing exercises that lead to inner calm and peace. By donation. Reservation not required.

Restorative Yoga
Give yourself the gift of relaxation. In this class the body is supported in postures that are held for a longer period of time, using the support of props (blankets, blocks and bolsters) to feel at ease and find comfort in each pose. It is a softer practice designed to bring the body – muscles, joints, vital organs – back into its natural balance and state of grace. This is a relaxing, rejuvenating class open to all yogis.

Rise and Shine
Experience the benefits of waking up to yoga as you stretch your body, awaken your mind, and fuel your spirit. Welcome the sun with a smile and gracefully work out all of the kinks and tightness from your night’s sleep. You’ll feel energized, have amazing mental clarity, and will be ready to flow through your day with ease. Rise and Shine Level 1 offers a slower pace great for beginners.

Slow Flow & Yin begins with a gentle warm up to loosen the body before coming in to deep Yin poses. Yin poses target the connective tissue and ligaments in the body located deeper than the muscles. This requires us to sit in a pose passively for longer holds. Perfect for creating a meditative space.

Yin and Gentle
This class brings harmony to body and mind with simple, mindful movements to lubricate the joints and muscles. Yin Yoga exercises the bones, lubricates the joints and deeply stretches the body’s connective tissue, especially in the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. Poses are held for 3-5 minutes and all poses are seated or reclined.

Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga exercises the bones, lubricates the joints and deeply stretches the body’s connective tissue, especially in the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. Poses are held for 3-5 minutes and all poses are seated or reclined.  Great for cyclists, runners or anyone with extra tight muscles or need some extra help with reducing stress or anxiety.  Suitable for all levels.

Yoga for Stress
This class offers techniques to improve our overall well-being and reduce stress. Sessions will include body awareness, breathing, stretching, poses, mindful movement, meditation, and relaxation.  In addition, each week we will focus on one aspect of stress reduction and using yoga as medicine.  Recommended for beginning and continuing students that prefer a gentle, mindful practice.
